Well, today was the day I had to do the responsible thing and subject my Husky dog to castration.  What a poor sod.  I feel totally horrible, I even cried when I left him.  But I had to do it.

He's one hell of a gorgeous looking lad, he has a fantastic nature and he's my absolute baby boy! But for several reasons I had to make the decision to remove his testicles.

1) I am seriously opposed to 'Backstreet breeders', and as my boy has no Pedigree papers, as his mum was a rescue that didnt come with her pedigree papers, my K  is not registered.  SO if I was to breed K, it would be with another Husky owner who will not have the same ethics as one with Full breed dogs. I couldn't be responsible for any animal farmed out for money with my participation.  It's just not something I could live with.  I see plenty of Husky's (and all breeds for that matter) in Animal shelters because of various reasons, and I couldn't take part in adding to that, and all that comes with it. (Euthanasia)

2) As he is Extremely gorgeous looking, I dont want anyone else eyeing him up to be a money making animal for them.. Its all too common to read in the local papers, and online, of Huskies being stolen.  He's mine, I love him to bits and would be completely devastated if someone stole him to be a stud.  So by removing his testiculars, I'm taking some of the appeal of stealing him away.

3) He's taken lately to shagging ANYTHING.  Visitors are embarrassed as am I, when a 4 stone Husky takes his fancy to having his wicked way with them.  Hump, hump, hump..........with me frantically apologising and trying to get him off them! he's stubborn (true to the breed)  and once he has his sights set on a sex object, it takes a LOT to change his mind!!! Our poor cat Malcolm, has been violated a few times by an overly affectionate K! He is 9 months old, and at his sexual peak.... it will only get worse, and I cant have everyone or everything at risk of canine rape any longer. LOL

4) He displayed aggressive behaviour toward his best pal Samson, an Akita of the same age.  They normally rough-house, and bounce about in good fun when they see each other, but yesterday he wanted to tear out Samson's throat.  Very scary!!!  The vet said as K is now a 'Teenager' he is being a bit (lot) testy, and eventually he will take his aggression out on the kids, as my husband and I are 'Alpha'.  Yes, the vet scare tactic'ed me into my ultimate decision, but I am a mother and to keep my kids safe, and to keep my dog forever.... then his danglies are a small price to pay.

I haven't picked him up from the vets yet, and I'm anticipating being at the brunt end of his hatred for a few days.  Lampshade Buster collar and all.......................................
